School life

Throughout their time at Charter, students will be given the opportunity to experience learning outside of school. As they get older, these involve residential trips.

Alongside excellent teaching in the classroom, we give students real-world opportunities to encourage leadership and prepare them for life beyond. These overnight visits take students out of their comfortable environments and challenge them to push boundaries.

Developing independence is an important part of growing up. Through shared experiences outside of the classroom, students’ values and attitudes are challenged and shaped. These trips often give students the strongest memories of their time in school. The feeling of pride in overcoming a challenge is one that remains with them forever! They help cement friendships and contribute to the positive, caring and dynamic environment in which our students flourish.

Each trip has a different core focus, designed to enhance the academic curriculum and provide opportunities for personal and social development. The trips include opportunities to participate in activities which are not available in school. The trips become more challenging as students get older and their levels of independence increase.

Environment plays a crucial part in the success of your child’s education. We pride ourselves on our warm, welcoming, safe and friendly atmosphere, that allows students to explore their passions and develop their own unique personality and identity.

Of course, academic success is important. It opens many doors and our students gain admission to some of the most prestigious universities around the world and achieve some of the best exam results in Thailand. You can expect us to push your child so that they are as academically successful as possible. However; there is far, far more to a Charter education than a string of outstanding exam results!

It is essential that students are able to express their ideas, so their language skills will be nurtured, with extra support available for those that need it. Making mistakes is how we learn. A safe environment means students are happy to take risks and push themselves, knowing that their teachers are there to help them through those difficulties.

We broadly follow the English National Curriculum, but in a modified form so that it is enriched by and suitable for our setting in the heart of Bangkok. Our bespoke curriculum means that there is a seamless transition as your child progresses through the school. The foundations for success and a love of learning are put in place in our Early Years programme, which ensures that students are ready to take on the IPC in the primary school. Which in turn gives each student the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the Secondary school. In Year’s 10 and 11 students follow an iGCSE programme which then leads to A Levels in their final two year’s of school.

We have many years of experience guiding students in their successful applications to some of the world’s most prestigious universities. Our Guidance team has a first-class understanding of the student journey through secondary school and onto university and careers and what it takes to realise their ambitions.

Students leave us and study all over the world. We have alumni studying here in Thailand at places like Chula, but also at Yonsei and Seoul National in Korea, UBC in Canada and a wide range of Russell Group universities in the UK. See the full list here. Wherever they want to go in the world, whatever it is they want to study we are here to help them realise that goal.

Wherever they want to go and no matter what each student has set their heart on studying we will help them realise their dreams. This is the key to our success! We are able to give individual advice to students so that they are ready to write amazing applications and are fully prepared for interviews. A key phrase we like to use is 𝄰BestForMe. It is about each student finding the right university and the right course for them, no matter where that may be. This student-centred process takes into account every student’s unique combination of goals, needs and interests to identify and helps them build a plan for the next step in their journey.

Guidance starts in Year 9 as students think about their IGCSE options and then builds slowly so that by the time they come to their final year they have the right balance of skills, interests and experiences to allow them to fulfil their dreams. Being ready to apply for university is not a process that can be rushed. Developing critical thinking skills, being inquisitive in their learning, proactive when they experience difficulties and taking part in a range of after-school activities all help to build a profile that the top universities, wherever they may be in the world, value.

We understand that university decisions are often taken as a family and that you, the parents pllay a vital role in supporting your children’s university ambitions. We schedule regular presentations to ensure that they understand the options and requirements involved in the university application process. In addition, we would encourage you to attend university fairs and, if you wish, arrange appointments to speak to our university counsellors.
